Paul Thomas Designs was founded in 2016 by Paul "Pasha" Thomas and Monique Thomas, but the experience behind our studio runs much deeper. Pasha brings nearly forty years of hands-on construction expertise across every trade and a personal standard for craftsmanship that has always pushed every project to its highest potential. Monique has spent more than thirty years helping people feel at home in their spaces, their wardrobes, and their lives, and as principal designer for every PTD project, she brings that same depth of understanding to every space she creates. Together, they hold every project from the first conversation to the final detail, with one team, one relationship, and one shared commitment to getting it right.
Monique and Pasha are Kirkland locals, deeply rooted in the community where they live and build. They coach Little League, cheer on their daughters, and show up for the same neighborhoods they have spent years transforming. For more than thirty years, Monique's career has centered on one thing: helping people feel their best. Her path to interior design moved through a decade in fitness and nearly a decade as a personal stylist at Nordstrom, giving her a rare depth of understanding of what makes people feel their most confident, comfortable, and fully themselves. She brings that feeling into every space she designs. As Principal Designer at PTD, she has built a reputation for guiding clients through even the most complex projects with clarity, warmth, and an expertise that consistently delivers beyond what they imagined.
What sets Monique apart is her unique ability to help clients see what their home and their life could become, then make that vision real in ways they never thought possible. Affectionately known as Pasha, or Little Paul in Russian, Paul “Pasha” Thomas has been building since he was 12 years old. What started as an instinct became a passion, and what became a passion became nearly four decades of hands-on mastery across every trade in construction. He apprenticed under a master builder in Medina at sixteen and spent years building luxury custom homes in Sun Valley before returning to the Pacific Northwest. Along the way, he took a dedicated year to master stamped concrete flatwork under the first person to do it in Washington state. For Pasha, understanding every trade from the inside has always been what separates a good builder from a great one. Nearly forty years of hands-on experience in framing, concrete, roofing, siding, plumbing, electrical, finish carpentry and heavy equipment have followed.
What Pasha brings to every project is a rare combination: a depth of technical mastery and an appetite for challenges that most builders would walk away from. Much of the quality Pasha builds into a home will never be seen. It happens behind the walls, beneath the floors, and inside the systems that make a PTD home perform just as beautifully as it looks.
